Subway Art

I picked up some used cupboard doors, and have created a few cool projects with them.  This was a Christmas gift for my Parents.  The words are the names of local Townships, Villiages & Towns that are meaningful to them.  The places where they were born, where they live now, where the cottage is....  I like the fact it is totally original and personal.

Happy Anniversary to me!

It was my 1st Anniversary in March!  I started blogging a year ago without a clue what I was doing.
Thank you all for helping me along the way, and inspiring me everyday!
I now feel I have to quit my full-time job in order to get more stuff done, and post more!
(I wish)  lol
But I do love my job, and will not be quitting anytime soon.
So, bear with me as I am a part-time blogger.
Thank you all for looking and commenting  :)

Welcome To The Farm

It's been a while since I posted. Tangled up in life with the end of the school year, summer fun, and work. I havn't been doing much restoring, but we bought a camper, and spent a weekend away recently. We went to my parents home, and I was up before daylight taking pictures of my parents fabulous yard. We have always referred to the place as "The Farm". It was my great Grandparents, then my Grandparents, and now my parents. They built a beautiful home, with lumber my Father cut from "The Farm".
Enjoy the photos, and a poem I wrote about the place in 2005.

Welcome to "The Farm"
The Jeffery home, you see
On the hill, and full of charm
In beautiful Cloudslee.

We have no livestock here,
Or vegetables for sale,
But if you watch, you'll see the deer,
And a neighbour mowing hay, to bale.

A W-4 putts around,
And a John Deere dozer too,
A riding lawn mower keeps the grounds,
& there is a little gardening to do.

Twice a day, precisely at 2 & 11,
Everything comes to a halt!
Like a thunder coming from heaven,
It's the train that is at fault!

As a kid I sat on the fence post,
Counting cars, and a vigorous wave,
"I counted 61" I would proudly boast,
"I saw 63" my brother would rave.

So, "Welcome to The Farm"
You don't need an invitation,
The friends and tea are warm,
And never, a lack of conversation!

A Little Bit of Silliness! - Wordy Wednesday

As Soon as Fred Gets Out of Bed

by Jack Prelutsky

As soon as Fred gets out of bed,
his underwear goes on his head.
His mother laughs, "Don't put it there,
a head's no place for underwear!"
But near his ears, above his brains,
is where Fred's underwear remains.

At night when Fred goes back to bed,
he deftly plucks it off his head.
His mother switches off the light
and softly croons, "Good night! Good night!"
And then, for reasons no one knows,
Fred's underwear goes on his toes.

Shoes

I thought I would share a poem I wrote for my Mother last year on Mother's Day.
It made her cry.  (but she always cries)
Enjoy.

Shoes

Shoes are so important,
To protect and keep us warm,
I could not imagine,
Years ago on “The Farm”

When my mother was a child,
She only had two pair,
And claims she was so lucky,
For some had none to wear.

Now she has so many,
None of them have holes,
You can bet your baby bootie,
All of them have soles!

Wife shoes,
Sister shoes,
Mother shoes,
Grandma shoes,
So many shoes to fill,
It takes a special person,
To really fill them well!

I’ve tried, and tried to squeeze them in,
My feet will never fit,
I will never fill her shoes
I am sorry to admit.

So Thankful to my mother,
& the beauty of her soul,
To which the evolution of her shoes
Has always played a role.

May Our Friendship Last Forever

Wordy Wednesday:

In honour of "DebbieDoos Pet Party", I thought this would be an appropriate poem to share.
We love you Buddy & Sophie!  (& BooBoo, R.I.P.)

May our friendship last forever
by Nicholas Gordon

May our friendship last forever;
May I sail upon your sea.
May we go through life together;
May there always be a "we."
May I be your endless sky;
May you breathe my gentle air.
May you never wonder why
Each time you look for me, I'm there.

May we be for each a smile
Like the warm, life-giving sun;
Yet when we're in pain awhile,
May our suffering be one.

May we share our special days,
The happiness of one for two;
And if we must go separate ways,
Let my love remain with you.

Wordy Wednesday - Rain

Well, I see "Wordless Wednesday" in my travels in blogland, so I thought I would have my own personal "Wordy Wednesday"! We are experiencing a tonne of rain in my "neck of the woods"! It is good for the flowers, the grass, ducks, the lakes, and fish....but really?? This much?? Should I build an Arc?? I am thinking of collecting animals 2x2! The kids are stuck inside, and so are the adults. ugh...The days are dark and gloomy.  And, I even like rain,...normally!! Warm rain after a hot summer day....thats my kind of rain.  We have had the odd nice day, (usually a work day) but it seems to be followed by 5 days of heavy rain.
Colourful rubber boots and umbrellas are the upside.  The kids coming home from school with mud up to their "bedonkidonk" - *sheesh*

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

Phenomenal Woman

In Honour of ALL Women for upcoming Mother's Day!

I love blogging, and read many blogs in a given week.  I have noticed that most of the blogs I read are created by women.  "Horah for women!"  Phenomenal women, with phenomenal talents.  So many creative thinkers, and doers.  So many very busy people, with very busy lives.  So many intelligent, and brave women.  Brave to venture out there into the unknown world of blogging, for all to potentially see! I seem to learn something new about creating a blog almost every time I log on.  The good thing about blogging, is there is no right or wrong way to do this.  We are our own Boss!  We can not fail!  We welcome complements from our followers, and they are always so kind.  I seem to get excited with every new follower.  I notice every one of you, and visit all of your blogs too.  I admire other "bloggers" with hundreds of followers, but I am very happy  I hit lucky #13!
Here is another mystery about me about to unravel...I love poetry, but I don't seem to read enough of it.  Here is a poem to celebrate all of us women!  It is also a boost of self-esteem. (which we all could use)
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
