Wordy Wednesday - Rain

Well, I see "Wordless Wednesday" in my travels in blogland, so I thought I would have my own personal "Wordy Wednesday"! We are experiencing a tonne of rain in my "neck of the woods"! It is good for the flowers, the grass, ducks, the lakes, and fish....but really?? This much?? Should I build an Arc?? I am thinking of collecting animals 2x2! The kids are stuck inside, and so are the adults. ugh...The days are dark and gloomy.  And, I even like rain,...normally!! Warm rain after a hot summer day....thats my kind of rain.  We have had the odd nice day, (usually a work day) but it seems to be followed by 5 days of heavy rain.
Colourful rubber boots and umbrellas are the upside.  The kids coming home from school with mud up to their "bedonkidonk" - *sheesh*

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

The Trunk full of my "Junque"!

Believe it or not, we found this trunk in our attic after we moved in.  It was in pretty good condition, but was BUTT ugly!
There he is, so cute  :)......but the steamer trunk in front of him....not so much.

Phenomenal Woman

In Honour of ALL Women for upcoming Mother's Day!

I love blogging, and read many blogs in a given week.  I have noticed that most of the blogs I read are created by women.  "Horah for women!"  Phenomenal women, with phenomenal talents.  So many creative thinkers, and doers.  So many very busy people, with very busy lives.  So many intelligent, and brave women.  Brave to venture out there into the unknown world of blogging, for all to potentially see! I seem to learn something new about creating a blog almost every time I log on.  The good thing about blogging, is there is no right or wrong way to do this.  We are our own Boss!  We can not fail!  We welcome complements from our followers, and they are always so kind.  I seem to get excited with every new follower.  I notice every one of you, and visit all of your blogs too.  I admire other "bloggers" with hundreds of followers, but I am very happy  I hit lucky #13!
Here is another mystery about me about to unravel...I love poetry, but I don't seem to read enough of it.  Here is a poem to celebrate all of us women!  It is also a boost of self-esteem. (which we all could use)
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Easter Milk Cartons

A few Easter stamps, some pastel inks, and some plain white cardstock & I made these adorable little milk cartons! I actually took the template from a box of chocolates, and disassembled the box to make the template. No dye cutting machine! I filled them with a stuffed baby chic & some jellybeans!

Improvised Green Bean Casserole

Ok, My Mother does not like mushrooms, and neither do most of my extended family.  Could you imagine???  So, I really wanted to make "Green Bean Casserole" for Easter dinner.  I decided to improvise.  I was wandering around the grocery store, after choosing some awesome looking fresh green beans, trying to figure out what to use instead of the mushroom soup....and it hit me.  What about an alfredo sauce??  MMMmmmmm.....cheesey!  Problem Solved.  I made a double batch for the large family gathering.

1/4 cup fresh chopped onions
2 cans French's, French Fried Onions
1 jar Classico Alfredo Sauce
1 jar (the alfredo jar) full of milk
Fresh Ground Pepper

Mix everything except the fried onions in a bowl.  Put in a casserole dish & Bake @ 350, for 40 minutes.
Add fried onions on top, & serve!
Easy & Cheesy!!!
I must say....it may be even better than the original!  Even my kids ate it!

Old Door - New Headboard

I had this great idea...but I needed my DH's help to make it happen.  We had an excess of old solid wood doors from the house after the renovations.  We knocked out walls, so the doors were not needed anymore for the intended purpose.  Also, we were in need of a proper headboard.  Perfect!!  Here is anold door converted into a GREAT headboard.  Just attach legs, & a little paint & voila!

Now we must change the hope chest at the end of the bed to my trunk!

Is this the trunk where I keep my "Junque"???

"Sam" The Butcher Block

You wanna talk about a piece of junk...this was it! This table was in pieces, with no hope for a new life.

So the process only took 1 day! Suprised even me!
Assembled, reglued, rebraced,

....painted, dry brushed, distressed & glazed. The colour is actually grey, with the walnut glaze.

The butcher block top is from an old dishwasher.
Some have inquired about the wooden bowls, my Father In Law makes them! Aren't they GREAT??!!
I love how this table turned out! :)
