A Little Bit of Silliness! - Wordy Wednesday

As Soon as Fred Gets Out of Bed

by Jack Prelutsky

As soon as Fred gets out of bed,
his underwear goes on his head.
His mother laughs, "Don't put it there,
a head's no place for underwear!"
But near his ears, above his brains,
is where Fred's underwear remains.

At night when Fred goes back to bed,
he deftly plucks it off his head.
His mother switches off the light
and softly croons, "Good night! Good night!"
And then, for reasons no one knows,
Fred's underwear goes on his toes.

Chalkboard Coffee Table or Kids Playroom Table

Oops!  I forgot to take a "before" picture.  It was the basic, honey oak end table from the '80's.  You know the one, where the wood goes in an "x" pattern?  Anywho...much better now, and a GREAT repurpose!

I just painted it white, then taped off a 2" border, and painted chalkboard paint in the centre.

Weekend Yard Sale Finds 05/14/2011

Found some treasures this week!

I Painted my ugly fridge...with chalkboard Paint!

Photobucket

I hated my white fridge. I have a black island, and a black dishwasher, and desperately want a black fridge & stove. I actually stole this idea from someones blog...and she too hated her former fridge. I am sorry I don't remember who it was or I would give credit where credit is due. So, thanks Blog World for the idea!!
(& it was only $15 for the chalkboard paint, with 2 coats on the fridge, there is still over half still left of a small can!)

Night Stand

$15 Investment.  I liked it because it was mostly "real" wood.

BEFORE

I painted it an "oops" yellow, which I diluted with some white,
& I added "tin tile" wallpaper to the back

And painted the inside of the drawer a pretty Para Paints blue,
And rubbed with steel wool and sandpaper,
Then distressed with walnut stain.

As a "NEWBY" blogger, I am diggin' the glass knobs I see everywhere.  I just had to "git me some"!
I am very pleased to say, they actually were right in front of my nose, and available at Home Depot!
$5 for the knob.

"I am a linky party girl!" - I linked up to a couple of parties last week, but then when blogger was down for a few days, I lost this post!

Criss-Cross Cards

I love the fact that these cards are so "girlie". I have 2 boys, so it is a rare occasion that I get to express my feminine side. Made with mostly CTMH products I had on hand.

My Debut Stripping Video

It is a good thing this is not on YouTube, although with this title I would probably get a lot of hits!
No, I am not "pole dancing", or dressed in a skimpy, sexy costume.
This is all about stripping baby!  You know, the other kind of stripping - paint stripping!
I do prefer this method, due to the fact I don't use any chemicals. I am sure that the process releases some chemical fumes, so be careful, and ALWAYS wear a mask.

These are my doors: (oops, almost forgot to take the before picture)

They (12 of them) have looked like this since we moved in over 4 years ago!  Yuck!

And, seriously, this is what it looked like only 1 hour later:

Really, ONE HOUR LATER!!  So, why did I wait 4 years to finish this project?  I really wonder!?!

My tool of choice:
A Heat Gun!

Please use safety glasses and a mask for this kind of stripping.  (In this case I did not, but it was entirely for the video, and I am setting a bad example.  I always wear my PPE) Heat strip in a well ventilated area, preferably outside.  I learned the hard way, and my fire alarms were going off constantly for several hours.  Be sure it is not lead paint.  There are testing kits at the Hardware and paint stores.

My Mothers Day

I hope everyone had a fabulous Mothers Day.  How did you spend yours?
Me? Well my husband was on nights, so I did a little of this in the morning:

Then I did some of this:

Then we did this:

And we saw scenes like this:

All of a sudden, the sky looked like this:

And then, about 1 hour later, it passed with only a couple of drops of rain!

So, we topped it all off with a BBQ dinner!  A simple, but perfect day!!
